Marina Hyde – What A Time To Be Alive!

Created by The Heath Bookshop

Join Marina Hyde, one of the most admired journalists in UK, as she discusses her latest book with Robin Ince.

Marina Hyde’s weekly Guardian columns have earned her a reputation as one of the most admired journalists in the UK. She has been named Columnist of the Year and Political Commentator of the year multiple times each, and is the only woman ever to have been named Sportswriter of the Year by the Sports Journalists’ Association. Marina co-hosts the smash hit podcast The Rest is Entertainment with Richard Osman.

What a Time to be Alive! So lettuce remember Liz Truss, relive the last days of the Tories, meet the guy they called No-Drama Starmer, and succumb to hyper-resistant superbug Nigel Farage. Travel stateside to meet our supranational Silicon Valley overlords, Donald Trump and his cavalcade of henchmen – then head for infinity and beyond with Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos. Experience testing times for misunderstood men in television, create wonder in every moment with Meghan, and relive the horror of the Gwyneth Paltrow ski massacre trial.

Truly, these are times that make you want to put your hands over your eyes, even when your hands are already over your eyes.

Robin Ince is a multi-award-winning comedian, author, broadcaster, bibliomaniac and a populariser of scientific ideas. He is perhaps best known as co-host and co-creator of Sony Gold Award winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox. Robin is author of four acclaimed books including Bibliomaniac, Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal. His poetry collection, Ice Cream for a Broken Tooth: Poems about life, death, and the odd bits in between, was published in July 2025. Robin’s latest poetry collection is titled Let the Quiet Ones Rise: Poems about standing up and standing out.
