Collaborative Practice Deaf & Hearing Interpreters

Created by Linguistpd

We'll look at what each professional needs and how to work in a collaborative way to provide optimal service for clients

This workshop is designed to explore and enhance the collaborative relationship between deaf and hearing interpreters. Participants will gain insights into the unique skills each interpreter brings to the team, learn best practices for communication and coordination, and discuss how best to place themselves for optimal interpreting.

Through interactive activities, breakout rooms, and open dialogue, the workshop will provide coping strategies, increased knowledge of what your colleagues need from you and vice versa. Suitable for both experienced interpreters and those new to interpreting, the session aims to promote mutual respect and professional growth within the interpreting community.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Knowledge of different domains requiring different coping strategies whilst working with RSLI(RI)/RSLI/RSLT colleagues
  2.  Seating placements in different situations/domains
  3. Awareness of your RSLI(RI)/RSLI/RSLT colleagues’ needs
