BSL Tour of Hunterian Museum

Created by Hunterian Museum

Discover the art and science of surgery from ancient times to the present day with a BSL Tour of the Hunterian Museum.

The Hunterian Museum includes the display of over 2,000 anatomical preparations made by the 18th century surgeon anatomist John Hunter, from whom the museum takes its name. The specimens are displayed alongside instruments, equipment, models, paintings and archive material, which trace the history of surgery from ancient times to the latest robot-assisted operations. The Museum includes England’s largest public display of human anatomy.

This tour is led by Alan Murray MBE, a Deaf BSL user. He is a trainer and consultant with a deep, lifelong interest in arts, culture, history and heritage. This interest, coupled with his strong belief that the arts should be accessible for all, is what fuels Alan’s passion for delivering culturally rich guided tours and talks in BSL; breaking down barriers and opening up the arts to the Deaf BSL-using community across London.
