British Sign Language users are invited to Sir John Soane’s Museum for a specially designed after-hours tour led by Deaf guide Edward Richards, to explore the Museum’s latest exhibition, Madelon Vriesendorp: Mind Games.
Join BSL guide Edward Richards to explore our major retrospective celebrating the surreal, subversive practice of artist Madelon Vriesendorp. Winner of the Soane Medal 2025, Vriesendorp’s work has been embraced by architects and architectural writers alike for its ability to give architectural theories memorable identities, helping to explain the complex ideas behind modern and postmodern architecture. She observes and understands the world through the objects in it, looking at everything through a surrealist lens. This has influenced her unique practice, in which humour, play, collecting and collaboration are at the fore.
This exclusive tour offers the opportunity to delve deeper into the artworks on display in this unique show. Ranging from early etchings, drawings and book covers to more recent work including jewellery, new works on paper and sculpture, this exhibition explores the creativity and imagination of an artist whose way of seeing continues to influence architects and artists today.
Lasting around an hour and limited to 12 people, these tours led by Deaf guides are exclusively for D/deaf and hard of hearing visitors.
