About Elton House

Elton House is a historic building in Bath, originally built around 1700 and later expanded by Elizabeth and Jacob Elton. It was created to house wealthy visitors who came to Bath to take the waters. By 1750, it had become a grand building with several floors, beautiful staircases, and fine woodwork to accommodate the affluent Georgians. Over time, the fashionable crowd moved further up the hill, and part of the ground floor became a shop, while the rest of the house stayed the same.

Due to the historic nature of our buildings we have a limited capacity for our Open Day events. You may therefore be asked to wait a short time while other visitors finish their visit. Whilst booking is not essential, priority will be given to those who have booked in advance. Open Day tickets for this event are not timed, you are welcome to visit any time between 10am-4pm. Last entry will be 3.45pm.
