Join Deaf lecturer Alan Murray for a slide presentation of our major exhibition ‘Renoir and Love’.
This exhibition explores Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s unique ability to capture love, friendship and human connection through some of the most celebrated paintings of the Impressionist period. Bringing together works from international collections, it focuses on the artist’s most innovative years, from the 1860s to the 1880s, when he developed a new visual language for depicting modern life.
Discover how Renoir portrayed moments of affection, companionship and everyday emotion, from lively Parisian dance halls and cafés to intimate scenes of family life. The exhibition includes iconic paintings such as ‘Bal au Moulin de la Galette’ (1876), on display in the UK for the first time.
This session will be led by a Deaf lecturer in British Sign Language with interpretation in spoken English.
This event will take place in the National Gallery’s Whitcomb Room, entrance via the Sainsbury Wing.
