Join us for a special British Sign Language (BSL) talk marking the 250th anniversary of the birth of John Constable, one of Britain’s most celebrated landscape painters. Led by Deaf art historian Edward Richards, this event offers a richly visual exploration of Constable’s life, techniques and legacy.
Through close looking and discussion, we’ll journey into three of Constable’s most atmospheric works: Cenotaph to the Memory of Sir Joshua Reynolds, the much‑loved pastoral scene The Cornfield, and the dynamic river landscape Stratford Mill. Discover how Constable combined observation, memory, and emotion to transform the English countryside into some of the most iconic images in British art.
Join us for an inspiring celebration of Constable’s vision and the landscapes that shaped him.
This session will be led by a Deaf lecturer in British Sign Language with interpretation in spoken English. The talk will take place in Room 40 of the Gallery.

Your service, assistance or emotional support animal must be under your care and control during your visit. Where possible, they should remain on lead and wear a relevant tabard or harness, but these are not requirements for entry.

Water bowls are available at each entry desk. The nearest place for a toilet for your animal is Leicester Square.
