Discover the story and collections of the Foundling Museum, where art, care and compassion meet. We are the UKโs only museum dedicated to the experiences of people who have been in care and the artists, past and present, inspired by their stories, beginningย in the 1700s, at a time of profound social upheaval and the creation of the Foundling Hospital โ the UKโs first childrenโs charity, and first public art gallery. Discover art by William Hogarth and Thomas Gainsborough alongside contemporary works by Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry, Lemn Sissay and more. The tour will cover the main collection of the Museum, but the ticket also includes entry to our temporary exhibitions.
Alan Murray MBE was born deaf and is a BSL user. Alan has a deep, lifelong interest in arts, culture, history and heritage. This interest, coupled with his strong belief that the arts should be accessible for all, is what fuels Alanโs passion for delivering culturally rich guided tours and talks in BSL; breaking down barriers and opening up the arts to the Deaf BSL-using community across London. He has given British Sign Language tours of the Foundling Museum since 2016, and he regularly gives tours at other top London museums and galleries.ย
