A unique Deaf crafting group exclusively for Deaf, deaf and hard of hearing crafters.

Deaf crafting group for Deaf and hard of hearing crafters. Meet like minded crafters to connect with. Craft for 2 hours in a relaxing cafe.

A unique Deaf crafting group exclusively for Deaf, deaf and hard of hearing crafters. Born out of a passion for both crafting, inclusivity and accessibility for Deaf and hearing loss crafters.

Come and join in with this new group. We welcome both BSL signing crafters as well as lip reading crafters. The emphasis is on connecting with crafters who are Deaf and hard of hearing (please note this is not a BSL practise group for hearing crafters). This is the group to develop your crafting passion whilst finding a safe space to be your authentic self.

Bring along your creative crafting project that you want to work on during this social event for two hours of uninterrupted crafting! Meet other like minded crafters, connect with other makers, be inspired and swap ideas and tips about your craft, whilst enjoying your favourite coffee and cake.

There are no limits as to which craft you can bring along, as long as it can fit on your cafe table space. Crafting could be: knitting, crochet, embroidery, sewing, patchwork, needle felting, jewellery making, sketching in watercolours, painting in acrylics, cardboard & papier mache modelling, Lego building or even poetry writing.

If you want some help with your crafting skills and ideas, why not join our group and see if other crafters can help you out? You may be thinking of trying out a new hobby? Come along and learn from experienced crafters who are passionate about their craft.

All crafters must be 18 years plus. Please book your Deaf Sunday Crafternoon ticket on Eventbrite (free at the moment whilst we trial the group). An Eventbrite ticket guarantees your place at the event and confirms your RSVP. Please have your ticket ready to show at the event, either a paper print out or on your smart phone. Thank you.

Deaf Sunday Crafternoon will meet on the last Sunday in the month so please check the schedule for your next Deaf Sunday Crafternoon event. You do not have to attend each event to be part of our crafting community.

Paid parking (RINGO app) on Sundays: St George’s car park and Lea Road car park (both close to the venue). Most residential streets are free but please check each road’s signage. The buses pass the venue on the High Street. Beckenham tram and rail station is a short walk to the venue.

The Rendezvous Caffe menu is amazing and you will be spoilt for choice! We ask each crafter buys at least one drink during the Crafternoon session. However, we are certain you will want more than a delicious coffee! Each crafter is responsible for settling their own tab with the cafe either during or at the end of the crafting session. The cafe also has a loyalty card when you get your tenth drink free.

Rendezvous Caffe is accessible by wheel chair. There is a ramp at street level to the inside of the cafe. The whole cafe is at ground level. The toilet is not a disabled loo but does have ample space to move around in.

The group will be faciltated by two crafters: Becci, who is hearing with BSL2 and Tamsyn, HOH signer with BSL2. We both have a passion for creating accessibilty to events for people who have experience of Deafness and hearing loss. If you have any questions, please look at the FAQ section or feel feel free to direct message Becci on this platform.

We look forward to meeting you for some crafting together and building new friendships.
