‘Hearing and Being Heard’ Raymond Antrobus in conversation with Alice Vincent (plus BSL/English Interpreter)

Created by Canterbury Festival

Deaf poet Raymond Antrobus in conversation with Alice Vincent

Award-winning poet Raymond Antrobus speaks about sound, identity, listening, and finding a voice to Alice Vincent, twice Wainwright Prize-longlisted author of Why Women Grow.

British-Jamaican writer Raymond Antrobus was first diagnosed as #Deaf at the age of seven. In his new book  ‘The Quiet Ear: An Investigation of Missing Sound’ he presents a ground-breaking exploration of deafness and exploring what it means to live in between the deaf and hearing worlds.

Alice Vincent’s Hark: How Women Listen charts a journey into sound that will ring true for many women; one of listening, seeking connection, and striving to be heard in a world that has grown too distracted and loud.

This event will be chaired by Katherine May.

BSL/English Interpreter: Steve Hudson (subject to change)

Books will be sold at the talk and online by The Bookshop at Canterbury Christ Church University.
