Mail Rail access - The historical nature of Mail Rail and the evacuation procedure means that riding the Mail Rail is not suitable for all visitors.
• In the event of an emergency evacuation guests must be able to walk unaided for a minimum of 100 metres on uneven surfaces with minimal lighting, and up at least 70 steep steps. Visitors who do not meet these requirements will be unable to ride.
• Visitors must be able to enter and exit the carriages independently.
• The audio-visual shows projected onto the platform walls during the ride contain flashing lights and would not be suitable for those with photo-sensitive epilepsy.
• There is no option to exit once the ride has begun and it will last approximately 15 minutes.
• The Mail Rail ride is a loud, highly visually stimulating experience, so would not be suitable for those who may find this distressing.
• The carriages are small and some of the tunnels are very narrow; this may be unsuitable or uncomfortable for visitors sensitive to small, confined spaces.
• Visitors sensitive to darkness may find the experience distressing.
• The tunnels can smell of damp and it can smell stronger at specific points of the ride.
For visitors unable to ride Mail Rail, a film is available to access on the lower-ground floor of Mail Rail. It demonstrates the journey through the tunnels and the accompanying audio-visual presentation. There is a subtitled version available.
